The Art Program is an integral part of our students'
education at the Jackson Grammar School. All students are taught art once
each week for one hour. The program is designed to provide students with
rich opportunities in developing skills and knowledge in both creating
art and responding to art. Students have opportunities to work with a
wide range of media and will gain an understanding of the arts of other
cultures and historical periods.
The art room provides an atmosphere where students gain confidence and
self-esteem because they feel safe to take creative risks. Student artwork
can be viewed in the entry way and hallways of the school throughout the
year. Their work can be seen on a much larger scale at our annual Spring
Arts Festival where students have a chance to exhibit their favorite artwork
from the year. Student artwork is also on display at the Memorial Hospital
where we participate in a district wide art exhibit.
