Whitney Community Center Opens Its Doors The Whitney Community Center is complete and the building is ready for public use! An Open House for the Whitney Center is scheduled to take place on Sunday, May 31st from 4-6pm. An official ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place later in the summer. The Whitney Foundation funded the construction in its entirety and now the building will be managed by the Jackson School District in collaboration with a Whitney Oversight Committee made up of school, town and community members. According to the wishes of Bill and Betty Whitney, it offers a wonderful, multi-use facility available to the local community in addition to the Jackson Grammar School children. The WCC was constructed on land donated by the Jackson School District and formerly the site of the historic Trickey barn. Along with providing a site for its construction, the Jackson School District will be funding the upkeep, daily operating expenses, and maintenance of this highly anticipated addition to the Jackson community. The facility offers many options and spaces for public use. There is a large, multi-purpose Main Hall with a stage and options for seating up to 250. The Art Room is a bright room with working height tables and stools to accommodate approximately 15 persons. A small conference room, complete with a table and chairs, is an additional option for up to eight persons. The large Kitchen boasts a six burner gas stove, ample storage and countertop space with a pass through into the Main Hall. The Request for Use form, Fee Schedule, School Board Guidelines for Use
along with a link to the Calendar of Events can all be found on the Jackson
Grammar School website: www.jacksongrammar.org. Currently, the building
is available for public use between the hours of 6am and 9pm daily except
Monday thru Wednesday between the hours of 8am and 3pm due to school classes
and generally during special school programs and performances. These hours
will change after the school year is completed. Whitney
