Classroom News:

The sixth graders will spend three days working on building ROVs called SeaPerch with the students from Bartlett.  This is a fun, innovative project that applies all kinds of engineering and science concepts.  WE NEED VOLUNTEERS to make this successful.

This is kind of a lull in our reading and writing unit of studies.  We are working hard on the best ways to read, and view information, then respond in writing.  This helps build endurance and prepare students for the kind of writing they will need to do on the upcoming Smarter Balanced testing, which is different from the writers workshop model we usually follow.

Blizzard Bags are attached below.  I have also shared them with each student.  They are missing reading passages (from TFK or ReadWorks), but students should do the rest of the tasks and may use another reading passage to complete that part.  Remember I am available from 8:00-11:00 (after that, you can still try me, and I will get back to you) at my email or by phone which is included in the blizzard bag packet.  If you can't find your hard copy, it's shared on Google Docs.

PE NEWS

Mr. Cooney has asked the 5/6 to bring extra shoes (and maybe extra socks) on Mondays. They want to get outside as often as possible, and the grass is quite wet first thing in the morning. A pair of shoes to change into will keep them all more comfortable and focused on the day!

Also:  Remind your 5/6er to check  https://physedgames.com/  to find a game they want to try.  Mr. Cooney hopes that each student will find and share games a couple of times throughout the year!
